With almost 1 million views on YouTube, this short documentary about Ice Swimmers was produced by Warren MacCarthy for the Great Big Story team, CNN, along with The Weather Channel. Warren MacCarthy also directed and DOP’d the shoot along with Marc Degenaar on camera. Additional footage supplied by Shawn Van Zyl. They travelled to the Afriski Resort in the majestic mountains of Lesotho, 3050m above sea level. Oxygen is scarce and temperatures typically below freezing. Here, a group of 15 elite swimmers lead by Ram Barkai, compete in one of the most extreme races on earth.
