21 Icons celebrates those who navigated South Africa out of the darkness of apartheid, as well as life-saving crusaders, inspirational artists and others. Warren Mac Carthy filmed their collaboration with MAD Charity a month before their new name launch: Make a Difference Leadership Foundation. Nelson Ikeh did some of the camera work and sound.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Information Technology Report 2013 ranked South Africa’s Maths and Science education second last in the world, only ahead of Yemen. It also ranked the quality of South Africa’s education system 140 of 144 countries and its Internet Access in Schools, 111 of 143 countries.
Despite the status quo, there are numerous heroes in the public and private sector that are systematically transforming the social landscape in South Africa.
One of the heroes is Francois Pienaar’s The Make a Difference Leadership Foundation. They empower youth from disadvantaged backgrounds through well-managed bursary programs.
We filmed the brand activation for Smile Radio 90.4FM, and it was huge success! Over 200 “Smile Agents” enlivened the streets of Cape Town with dance, smile and laughter. Commuters were compelled to smile on their way to work and tune into the station.
